Overview

GetTogether is a mobile application and interactive city map helping youth aged 14 to 35 find relevant leisure activities, create their own events, and unite in themed communities. The project aims to transform routine event discovery into an exciting experience and rebuild Ukraine's social capital.

Modern Ukrainian youth (amounting to about 5.5-6.5 million people) face a critical level of social isolation and cognitive overload.

Based on studies by UCF, Cedos, and U-Report, we identified key pain points:

Lack of company (22.1%): Youth decline visiting interesting events because they have no one to go with.
Informational chaos (13.8%): Information is scattered across dozens of Telegram channels and Instagram pages without a single convenient map.
General fatigue (36.3%) and budget constraints (30.3%): Users need an easy way to find free activities 'here and now' for psychological relief.
Existing apps (MeetUp, Eventbrite) either feature complex corporate interfaces or have almost no localization in Ukraine (MeetUp coverage <5%).

Solution

Our 'blue ocean' lies in combining the ease of user-generated event creation (UGC) with a strong social layer and an interactive map.

Key product values:

'Here & Now' Map: Instant visual discovery of nearby events with filters like 'Today', '< 3 hrs', and 'Free'.
Communities Catalog: Ability to find 'company for an evening' and join local groups (e.g., 'Board Games').
Content Generation (UGC): A central '+' button that allows anyone to create an event in just a few seconds.

Competitive Analysis:

We analyzed 6 direct and indirect competitors (EventMate, MeetUp, Eventbrite, Fever, Luma, StubHub). Insight: Most platforms act strictly as ticketing agents, ignoring the user's need for networking and map visualization.

Quantitative Survey:

Our own survey of 100 students confirmed:

95% use online communications to find leisure activities.
54% are ready to use a dedicated mobile app (instead of social networks) to avoid spam.

User Personas & JTBD:

We segmented our target audience into 3 groups:

High School Students (14-18 years): Seeking safe leisure options and social validation from peers.
University Students (17-24 years): The core audience. Seeking affordable events 'here and now', looking to make new friends, and relieve stress.
Freelancers, Veterans, IDPs (19-35 years): Requiring high-quality networking and clear information about location accessibility before visiting.

We designed the architecture based on the 'three-click' rule to minimize cognitive load.

The sitemap features 5 main tabs: Map ➔ Feed ➔ Create Event (+) ➔ Groups & Communities ➔ Profile with QR tickets.

Design Process

Development is tailored to the iOS ecosystem, strictly adhering to Apple Human Interface Guidelines (HIG).

Low-fi Wireframes & Ergonomics:

Designing with the 'Thumb Zone' in mind. For event cards on the map, we utilized the Bottom Sheet pattern, letting the user view event details overlaid on the map without losing geographic context.

Color Palette:

Colors chosen to evoke a positive, playful mood:

🟢 Green (#66E871): Vital energy, eco-friendliness, a 'green light' for adventures.

🟡 Yellow (#FEFF78): Joy and hospitality, drawing attention gently without aggression.

🟣 Purple (#EA94FF): Creativity and a modern, premium digital vibe.

Typography & Accessibility:

Using the SF Pro system font family (Display and Text) with Dynamic Type support. UI elements and buttons (Capsule Buttons) are sized at least 42px to meet accessibility guidelines (WCAG).

Business Value

Business Impact & Strategy

As a Product Designer, I integrated viability. GetTogether features a hybrid business model:

B2C: Premium subscriptions, branded merchandise sales.
B2B: Paid ticket sales commission, targeted advertising for local venues.
B2G: Special terms for state cultural institutions (libraries, museums) to transform them into modern hubs.

Forecast: With an initial investment of $120,000, the expected ROI is 25.83% over 3 years.
